leggings for baby boys

HI!

I’m so excited to share my first post with you all. My littlest guy, Dean, just turned 4 months old (how does that happen so quickly?) and I realized he was seriously lacking in the pants department.

I love leggings on boys, especially baby boys so I looked around to see what leggings were available from my favorite pattern shops.  I know there are tons of free and paid patterns for leggings.

I chose to sew up the Little Ninja Leggings from 5oo4 Patterns (free yay!) and the Agility Leggings from Peek a Boo Pattern Shop (aff link). These are a paid pattern but so so so many really cute options.

Agility Leggings are in Teal and Little Ninja Leggings are in Navy.

Dean is 4 months old and weighs 14 lbs. He is pretty average for a 4 month old with Chest 16.5 inches, waist 17 inches, and hip 17 inches. Based on the size chart that put him in 3-6 month Little Ninjas and 3 month Agility Leggings. I wanted to see if these leggings were cloth diaper friendly. And guess what? Both of them totally are! Bonus!

I’m going to give each a score of Deanie Beans on a scale of 1-3.

3 Beans is the best.

Coverage and fit: Both had a good front and back rise giving total coverage to his cloth bum. The Ninjas had a bit more room in the back.

Cute factor: Duh. He makes everything cute.

Options: The Agility Leggings has so many options for cute additions to a basic legging. I know I’ll be using some of those in the future.

Pattern ease:  Both patterns have easy to follow directions and layers.

Sew Speed: This is super important to me right now because I have a baby and a 3 year old. I need quick but cute sews. Both are really quick! And I just learned how to do the waist band by serging the elastic to the top and turning over then top stitching. So much LOVE for that!

So basically they are both awesome!

For free the Little Ninjas are great. For a paid pattern I would totally buy the Agility Leggings again. I love the versatility of them.

I am stoked to get to make more for my growing guy. He will have a rainbow collection when I’m done. What are you favorite leggings or pants patterns for babies?
