day four: kcw april 2014

We are already over halfway through this KCW! I cannot even keep up with all the awesomeness in the project pool. You guys are on fire!

I hadn’t seen many boy clothes in the pool the first few days and I was getting worried. Spring dresses are fun to sew, but those boys can’t be naked all the time (though they might like to be). But today the boys showed up in full force! Shorts and raglans were the name of the game, with just a little tweak here and there to make it one of a kind: a freezer paper stencil, bright yellow trim, color blocking, stripe blocking!

The girls had a good showing too on day four: twirly skirts, leggings, and flowers everywhere! Who do you sew for, boys or girls or both? Who do you prefer to sew for? I think I like sewing for my boys a bit more because they wear the heck out of whatever I make them. My daughter is more fussy.

I prefer sewing for my two girls, I have to be honest… There are so so many more options and fun + beautiful… But I know what you mean – when I make something for my son he is so happy and thankful that yes, he just wears the heck out of whatever I make him! 🙂

I only have boys in my house, other than me, of course! I love selfish sewing but to be honest I love the quick gratification of making something for my little boys, because they are so much smaller, it’s so much quicker aaannnd as you say, they wear the heck out of it.  They love whatever I make them and wear it all the time.  Finished the cutest shorts today, can’t wait to post them in the next coup,e of days. And my baseball raglan tee got featured today, so exciting  and thank you, for hosting KCW, I think I may be a little addicted 😉

I have to say, I’m really discovering the joys of sewing for a boy! After the obvious wow factor of girls sewing for my daughter I wasn’t so sure about sewing for my boy. But I’ve come around! I’ve found it requires a lot of subtle finesse… lots of little touches that make basics special. Thanks for the feature! 🙂

I prefer sewing for boys. One reason is that I find it hard to find nice boy clothes in the store. It’s usually either quite boring, or very ‘loud’. I fully agree with AmandaJean. It’s all about subtle finesse. Like the birch shirt I created for my son. So happy to see it featured! Thanks. I love participating in Kids Clothes Week. Just posted a self-printed graphic tee that I’m really excited about. And let’s see what else I can manage to sew in the remaining days.

Hi this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have
to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no
coding skills so I wanted to get advice from someone
with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
